Good to know: the grove is about 1.1 miles from the parking lot on a flat, stroller-friendly trail, so plan on a 20 to 25-minute walk in and arrive a little early. Parking is $5 per car on Saturdays.

A mid-November afternoon on a private ranch in Redlands: a red barn, weathered wooden fences, open fields and the foothills behind, with the last hour of sun before it sets.
