Elopements offer something rare — intimacy without compromise. From the Jurupa Hills and historic downtown Riverside out to Joshua Tree, Big Bear, Idyllwild, Temecula wine country, and the Southern California coast, there's no shortage of backdrops. Elopements across
Southern California.

We're based in Riverside, so the whole Inland Empire is home turf — but an elopement can go anywhere the light is good. These are some of the public spots couples ask about most. Have a place in mind? We'll scout it and sort out any permits.

Joshua Tree

High-desert boulders, Joshua trees, and wide open sky — a favorite for sunrise and sunset ceremonies.

Big Bear

Alpine lake and pine forest in the San Bernardino Mountains, about 90 minutes from Riverside.

Idyllwild

Quiet mountain town in the San Jacintos — big cedars, granite outcrops, and cool light.

Mt. Rubidoux, Riverside

The trail and cross above downtown Riverside, with valley views at golden hour.

Temecula wine country

Vineyard rows and rolling hills less than an hour south of Riverside.

SoCal coast & Malibu

Bluffs, tide pools, and Pacific sunsets along the Malibu and Orange County shoreline.

Los Rios District, San Juan Capistrano

California's oldest neighborhood — adobe cottages, pepper trees, and historic lanes.

Elopement questions.

Do we need a permit to elope at these spots?

Some do. State and national parks like Joshua Tree, and popular coastal beaches around Malibu, usually require a permit or day-use reservation for a ceremony. City parks such as Mt. Rubidoux and the Los Rios District are more relaxed. We scout the location ahead of time and check whether a permit or reservation is needed so the day stays easy.

What counts as an elopement — and how many guests can we have?

An elopement is typically just the two of you or a very small group of about 5–10 people. Once the guest list grows past 10–30, it becomes a micro wedding with more traditional ceremony elements. We photograph both — tell us your headcount and we'll match the coverage.

When is the best time of day to elope for photos?

Golden hour — roughly an hour before sunset, or the first hour after sunrise in the desert and mountains — gives the warmest, most flattering light. We build the timeline so your ceremony and portraits fall inside that window.

Are you a bilingual elopement photographer?

Yes — Francisco is fully bilingual (English and Spanish), so bilingual couples and families are right at home. We direct portraits and family moments comfortably in either language.
